Abstract

Myanmar's military leaders have extended the house arrest of the country's deposed civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi until Wednesday.

Her remand was set to expire yesterday but Aung San Suu Kyi will now front court Wednesday to face charges of illegally importing six walkie-talkies after being detained in a military coup two weeks ago.

It comes as protests calling for a return to civilian rule continue to grow as armoured vehicles patrol the streets of several cities for the first time.
