Abstract
Grounded in fieldwork conducted with fine woodwork trainees at the Building Crafts College in East London (2012-13), the film explores individual motivations for taking up carpentry; the pleasures and challenges discovered in learning and problem-solving with mind, hands, tools, and timber in unison; and trainees' aspirations for future life and work.
