Abstract

Trên cơ sở nghiên cứu thực địa và các kết quả nghiên cứu khảo cổ học trong thời gian gần đây, bài viết đề cập đến 8 thành lũy Champa ở các tỉnh Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị, Thừa Thiên Huế (Việt Nam). Đây được xem là vùng phía Bắc của Lâm Ấp, sau đó là Champa. Từ đó bài viết tập trung làm rõ đặc trưng, cũng như so sánh với các thành lũy Champa ở khu vực phía nam đèo Hải Vân. Bài viết này sẽ bổ sung những tư liệu mới về các thành lũy Champa ở khu vực Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị, Thừa Thiên Huế, điều mà các học giả người Pháp trước đây ít đề cập tới. Nghiên cứu này cũng cho thấy, do yếu tố địa - chính trị, địa - lịch sử của vùng đất này trong thời kỳ Lâm Ấp, Champa, ở khu vực này có sự hiện diện của nhiều thành lũy Champa nhất miền Trung Việt Nam, được xây dựng trong nhiều thời điểm khác nhau, từ cuối thế kỷ IV đến đầu thế kỷ XIV, trên nhiều dạng địa hình sinh thái khác nhau, với những cấu trúc đa dạng, vừa mang tính riêng biệt vùng miền, vừa thống nhất với các thành lũy Champa ở miền Trung Việt Nam.

Based on the results of field surveys and archaeological excavations in recent years, this article focuses on eight Champa citadels and ramparts situated in the Vietnamese provinces of Quảng Bình, Quảng Trị and Thừa Thiên Huế (also called Bình-Trị-Thiên). This area is considered the northern territory of Lâm Ấp, later known as Champa. The paper presents details of these monuments and compares them with those built in the south of the Hải Vân Pass. It aims to provide a new set of data and understandings of the system of Champa citadels and ramparts in Bình-Trị-Thiên, a region previously under-researched by French scholars. This article also highlights the geo-political and historical factors that resulted in greater numbers of monuments constructed here than other areas of central Việt Nam. Built roughly from the late 4th to the early 14th century, these sites reflect both regional differences and commonalities with their counterparts in central Việt Nam.
